The fortress acquired its present appearance in the years 1738 – 1745. In the years 1970 – 1982 it underwent a general reconstruction and in 1932 the Jeseník City Museum was moved here and the fortress still serves as the museum’s headquarters. There are three permanent exhibitions devoted to the history of the Jeseníky region since prehistoric times, evidence of mining, lime and spa industry, geology and mineralogy of Jeseníky and fauna and flora of Jeseníky.
